STEAM event helps introduce 7th graders to Classics

On Wednesday, March 15, Tom Keeline, Kelsey Nordine (graduate student in Anthropology), and Ashley Ray (Assistant Curator of Visual Resources, Art History and Archaeology) took part in a STEAM event for 7th grade girls from around Missouri. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.

On Wednesday, March 15, Tom Keeline, Kelsey Nordine (graduate student in Anthropology), and Ashley Ray (Assistant Curator of Visual Resources, Art History and Archaeology) took part in a STEAM event for 7th grade girls from around Missouri. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. More than 600 7th graders and their chaperones came to the Washington University campus for a variety of activities. Tom presented on the ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes and his ingenious method for calculating the value of pi; Ashley and Kelsey discussed the use of science and technology in archaeology.
