Eugene Tavenner Prize for Excellence in the Study of Classics
Eugene Tavenner (1878-1963), a prominent Latinist and an authority on ancient magic, was professor of Classics at Washington University from 1911 until 1947 and Chair of the department for 20 years. He was instrumental in convincing John Max Wulfing, a prominent St. Louisan, to leave his extraordinary collection of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine coins to the University.

Edward Weltin Award for Excellence in the Study of Ancient History
Edward Weltin (1911-2002) was professor of Greek and Roman History at Washington University from 1947 to 1980. His research focused on the interrelationship between Christianity and classical culture, and he is also commemorated by the annual Edward Weltin Lecture in Early Christianity.

Carl Conrad Prize for Excellence in Classical Studies
Carl Conrad was professor of Classics at Washington University from 1961 until his retirement in 2001. He was a leader in computer applications in the Humanities and still maintains a website with links to important resources in the Classics. This award was established in 2006 in his name, in recognition of his extraordinary impact on generations of Classics students at Washington University.
