WashU Classics Department to offer two new courses in Roman History in Fall 2024

The Washington University Department of Classics will offer two new courses in Roman History I Fall 2024. 

PhD student Maurice Gonzales will offer a first-year seminar entitled “Villains of Ancient Rome” (L08 117, MW 10-11:20), in which students will learn about ancient Roman culture and ideals by examining some of their juiciest stories of bad behavior.

 

 

New Assistant Professor of Classics Christopher Erdman will offer an advanced seminar (no prerequisite), entitled “Politics and Personalities in Late-Republican Rome” (L08 4261/5360, MW 10-11:20AM), in which students will review the interaction of political practice and over-sized personalities as the Roman Republic came to an end.
