Sophomore Melina Marin has been selected to present on her work from the Women of Greek Tragedy course she took with Dr. Rebecca Sears in the fall of 2022. Melina will be presenting at two different graduate student colloquia on the connections between Euripides' Medea and the La Llorona folktale, in particular as it is envisaged in Ramón Peón’s film, La Llorona. The first colloquium will take place at the University of Virginia through their Department of Classics, titled “Indignity and the Greco-Roman World: Modern and Ancient Responses”. The second is at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque through their Comparative Literature program, titled “Projecting the Past and Recalling the Future: Orienting the Self in Time”. The WashU Department of Classics would like to congratulate Melina on her hard work and achievement!
